A suburban Philadelphia swim club has invited children from a largely minority day-care center to come back after a June reversal that fueled allegations of racism against the club, a spokeswoman said Sunday.
Some kids from the Creative Steps Day Care center say club members made racial remarks.
The development came during a hastily called Sunday afternoon meeting of the Valley Club in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. Club members voted overwhelmingly to try to work things out with the day-care center, which accused some swim club members of making racist comments to black and Hispanic children contracted to use the pool, said Bernice Duesler, the club director's wife.
Duesler said the club canceled its contract with the Creative Steps day-care because of safety, crowding and noise concerns, not racism.
"As long as we can work out safety issues, we'd like to have them back," she told CNN.
She said the club has been subpoenaed by the state Human Rights Commission, which has begun a fact-finding investigation, "and the legal advice was to try to get together with these camps, " Duesler added.
Alethea Wright, Creative Steps' director, said, "They should have done that before."

Excuse me? I blasted Dr. Duesler for his actions, went so far as to track down his personal email and told him in no uncertain terms what he did was wrong and he damn well better apologize, but now it's time for Ms. Wright to stop whining and take the children to the pool if the club offers to accept them. This BS about "How can I take them back... they're scarred..." is just that, pure BS. Now she's talking like she wants to profit from the issue. Someone needs to remind the woman that this is not about her, it's about the kids, the pool and making amends. Pack the kids into the bus and take them to the pool, like you're supposed to. No more wise-ass comments, lady.
These policies of so called tolerance and diversity infringe on the rights of free association.
If black parents don't want their kids associating with white kids, they shouldn't have to, and vice-versa.
The standard should be universal.
Deer 8:45 PM Anonymous,
Your comment is a non-acceptable form of badly veiled racism.

Free association has nothing to do with this issue. What you are espousing is a clever way to exclude people from associating with others based on fears or guilt.
Your rhetoric to the simple minded appears acceptable but it is vile and racist indeed.
Give the director of Valley Swim Club a call; he loves to hear from you.

this is all just so silly. both sides need to get a grip, get over it, and move on. just when people think we have made a step in the right direction, some silly person decides to use race to make a buck. i hope they fire her. all this will end up doing is hurting the kids. break the cycle already!
I didn't hear anything about the other 2 day-care centers that were asked to not come back and had their contracts cancelled as well. You know the the predominately white day care-centers that no one wants to mention. Is this because they don't have a race card to fall back on? This whole case is primarily economic in nature, with race being a very distant secondary issue in my opinion. This private club thought they could bring in revenue by getting these day-care centers into their club without thinking about the consequences. Then all these kids start showing up from multiple day-care centers and the club realized they were woefully undermanned to handle all these children, not to mention upsetting there long standing members who didn't expect their club to turn into a large crowded mess of children. So the club realizes it's mistake and asks 3 different day-care centers not to come back and gives them full refunds. Yet, we only hear about the black day-care center. Were racist things said at the pool that day? Probably. Racism and prejudice still exist towards all races. Was this a case of racism still running rampant in America? In my opinion, NO! Like I said racism was probably present at the club that day, but I believe the club when they say they canceled the contract because of safety, crowding and noise concerns. There is always two sides to every story, but when alleged black racism is involved it seems like only one side gets to tell it's story.
If there was a blog named "Your White Attorneys" all hell would break loose and it would be branded some racist hate blog. By letting a post with the mans address and phone number stay up, it shows what this blog thinks. You feeble minded reverse racists need to get over yourselves already. A black man is president, racism isnt what it used to be. But by all means keep using it as an excuse to be lazy and advance pathetic agendas
