A girl being held in state custody after her mother was accused of medical neglect may be in the care of a relative soon. The 13-year-old has been in a facility in Northville since shortly after Child Protective Services showed up at her mother's Detroit home to take her in March. Maryanne Godboldo, who preferred holistic treatments for her daughter instead of a prescribed psychiatric medicine, is accused of firing a gun at police, triggering an hours long standoff. During a hearing in Wayne County's juvenile court Friday, Judge Lynne Pierce said all of the parties agreed to have a doctor from the facility in Northville and a doctor who believes in holistic medicine and is a family friend, meet within a week and jointly recommend a treatment plan for the teen. Once the plan is in place, Pierce said the ultimate goal is to have the girl discharged from the Northville facility and placed with a relative. As part of the order, Pierce directed the Michigan Department of Human Services to look for a relative who would be an appropriate caregiver for the girl. Pierce said another hearing will be held May 11. The trial in this case is scheduled to begin in June. Godboldo also is facing criminal charges in connection with the standoff. "I'm very happy about this," Godboldo said of the agreement reached Friday. "I'm very pleased."
